Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children  directed by Tim Burton starring Asa Butterfield, Eva Green, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ella Purnell  is about a boy  (Butterfield) who goes to a home for peculiar children that his grandfather once talked about when he was younger after he dies, he soon realizes the magic and the mystery of the residents as he gets to know the people there. He soon has to help them defeat their common enemy as he is possibly their only hope.

(Sorry for the lack of reviews, I will try to set a schedule for reviews)

Positives:

I think the development getting to see the magic world of the home was nice to see, seeing the many powers each child possesses as well doing a good job for the audience to care for some of the characters. My favorite of the characters of the film would be Emma (Prunell) because of the powers she has as well as how they develop the character. The movie has moments that gives a vibe of Xmen and Harry potter.

Negatives:

The main character Jake (Butterfield) wasn’t that interesting as the characters we got to see even though later on the movie we get to find out something about him later on that can help his character, he doesn’t really seem like he could have been that heroic type in the film his scenes where he tries to save the children don’t really look as well as other movies that represent characters who finally step out to help, be a hero. Some of the children didn’t get a lot of screen time which I could have wanted to see because some of the children had unique abilities that could have been nice to know more about particularly the twins. Going back to my statement on how this is movie has the vibe of Xmen and Harry Potter put together when they get into the home I like the sound of that match-up but I felt something lacking a little with that idea.

Favorite Moments:  Minor Spoilers

  • Jake meeting the children
  • Seeing how they reverse time
  • Children escaping the monsters
  • The grandfather alive again

Overall Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a good movie the idea of the home was great ,  but had moments where it could have added more depth to some characters.

I give Miss Peregrine’s Home of Peculiar Children a B.
